Privacy Policy
Overview
This privacy policy explains which personal data we process when you use the Light Meter LM-3000 app ("app"), why we do so, and what rights you have. It follows the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). For our website lightray.io, our website privacy policy applies.
The key points:
The app works without an account. Camera images never leave your device.
For statistics and error analysis, we collect usage and device data. This data is linked to a random device ID, not to your name.
We don't sell your data.
Controller
Lightray Innovation GmbH, Steinackerstrasse 38, 8542 Wiesendangen, Switzerland. You can reach us by email at leg[email protected].
Usage and Device Data
To improve the app and fix bugs, we use analytics and crash reporting services to record how the app is used. We process:
Device model, operating system, app version, language, and country
App usage, e.g., features used, settings, and purchase status
Crash and error reports
This data is linked to a random device ID. We don't collect camera images, your precise location, your name, or any activity outside the app.
For certain actions, e.g., when you send us a support email from the app, we also store the app's technical settings and details about your purchases. This lets us help you with problems more effectively.
The legal basis under the GDPR is our legitimate interest in a stable and continuously improved app (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Purchases
You buy charges for the app's battery through the Apple App Store. Apple handles the payment; we don't receive any payment or personal data (not even your email address), only information about the purchase, e.g., product, subscription period, and store country. The legal basis is the performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Contacting Us by Email
If you write to us, we process your information to handle your request. The legal basis is handling your request or the performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).
Service Providers and Transfers Abroad
We use service providers that process data on our behalf:
Analytics, crash reports, and support data: USA and EU
Email: EU
Apple processes data on downloads and purchases in the App Store as an independent controller.
Under Swiss law, EU countries are considered to provide adequate data protection, as is the USA for companies certified under the Swiss-U.S. or EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Otherwise, we rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, which are also recognized by the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).
Retention
We store personal data only as long as we need it for the respective purpose or are legally required to keep it, e.g., business records for ten years. Crash reports are deleted after 90 days.
Your Rights
You can request access to your data and have it corrected, deleted, or handed over to you. You can object to the processing and withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future. To do so, contact leg[email protected].
Since we don't know your name in the app, we need your device ID for requests about app data. It's included automatically when you write to us via the support function in the app.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the FDPIC or, if you live in the EU, with the data protection authority in your country.
Children
Our services are not directed at children under 16.
Changes
We update this privacy policy when our data processing or the legal situation changes. The version published on this page applies.
